Learn How to Blind Taste Wine Like A Sommelier | Insider Tips & Tricks

Beginner
Blind-tasting wine may seem like some sort of psychic talent, but there’s actually a tried and true method you can use to figure out the wine in your glass, even if you have NO IDEA what it is! It all comes down to combining your palate training with wine theory knowledge, which is how sommeliers blind taste. In order to determine the place, grape, age, and quality of a wine, you need to start by determining if it is an old world or a new world wine, and then if it’s a warm climate or cool climate wine. From there, you can use clues from the sight, nose, and palate of the wine to figure out the likely grape. Then, combine that with the knowledge you know about the place to eliminate options and land on a result! I know this may sound complicated, but after you watch this video, you’ll know exactly how sommeliers use clues and knowledge to blind-taste wines!
