Red wine is a perfect mate for beefy steaks. In this video, I consider three cuts of steak and recommend a wine to pair with each one: filet mignon, New York Strip, and Hanger Steak.

1. Hawkstone Napa Valley Barney’s Heritage Cuvee Merlot 2013 (limited release). Price Range $30-35. Purchased at Harris Teeter. Suggested serving temperature: 59 to 64 degrees F. Suggested food pairings: lamb, baked appetizers, robust or rustic meat dishes, sausage, pasta with meat sauce, meatloaf, burgers, mild to medium hard cheeses, seared salmon, braised short ribs, meat casseroles, especially with fruity element, grilled steaks, roast beef, lamb chops, or duck.
